Kit includes all of the materials you’ll need to make yarn using a handspindle.

  • 2 oz. of easy-to-spin Coopworth wool roving from Arbormeadow Farm, Steeles Tavern, VA  (www.arbormeadowsheep.com)
  • A Golding 1.9 oz  RingSpindle with your choice of either a solid Cherry Whorl or a solid Walnut Whorl. Known for their exceptional balance and long spin time, makes a Golding an ideal spindle to learn on.
  • The DVD Getting Started on a Drop Spindle by Maggie Casey. With clear explanations this DVD covers for the beginner all the basics of spinning on a handspindle:  fiber preparation, using the handspindle, plying, yarn finishing, and more.

If you prefer to substitute another Golding spindle, simply purchase the kit without the spindle and choose another spindle on the site.

We advise the beginner to choose from among the heavier weight Golding spindles 1.7 oz and up.
